Scottie Pippen Prime Joint Support

Scottie Pippen
As the body ages, many people experience joint discomfort. One option is to take a joint supplement to help promote overall bone and joint health. When looking at a joint supplement, there are three main ingredients found in most products on the market: glucosamine, chondroitin and methylsulfonylmethane, more commonly referred to as MSM.

The research on both chondroitin and MSM is very controversial. Chondroitin, for instance, has very poor absorption due to its high molecular weight. Also, one of chondroitin’s mechanisms is to increase the hyaluronic acid content of synovial fluid; while the new Prime Joint Support Formula by Isotonix directly provides hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid plays an important role in tissue hydration, lubrication and cellular function. Likewise, research on MSM is not conclusive. In fact, it takes large quantities of MSM daily (2-6 grams) to make a difference and see effects.

On the other hand, the research behind glucosamine is consistent and its benefits effective. Prime Joint Support Formula contains glucosamine, naturally produced by the body and a key component of cartilage. An aminomonosaccharide (a combination of the amino acid — glutamine and a sugar — glucose), glucosamine is concentrated in joint cartilage, and has been scientifically proven to support healthy joint function and promote the normal production of synovial fluid, which lubricates your joints and regenerates cartilage.

Prime Joint Support Formula also contains the powerful antioxidant Pycnogenol®, which science has shown to inhibit the body’s over-active inflammatory processes associated with the normal aging process.

The body’s inflammatory response is a natural process. It is an essential component of the body’s defense system, and can be triggered from numerous internal and external factors. Pycnogenol has been shown help support the body’s defense system by inhibiting over active inflammatory responses associated with the normal aging process.

Furthermore, Prime Joint Support Formula is the only product on the market delivering glucosamine, Pycnogenol and hyaluronic acid in isotonic form.

Isotonic, which means “same pressure,” bears the same chemical resemblance of the body’s blood, plasma and tears. All fluids in the body have a certain concentration, referred to as osmotic pressure. The body’s common osmotic pressure, which is isotonic, allows a consistent maintenance of body tissues. In order for a substance to be absorbed and used in the body’s metabolism, it must be in an isotonic state.

Isotonix® dietary supplements are delivered in an isotonic solution. This means that the body has less work to do to obtain maximum absorption of the nutrients. The isotonic state of the suspension allows nutrients to pass directly into the small intestine and rapidly absorb into the bloodstream. With Isotonix products, little nutritive value is lost, making the absorption of nutrients highly efficient while delivering maximum results.

Eating For Your Muscles

Awake Energy
If you want to work on your muscle mass, you probably already know that you should do lots of lifting. You probably already know that you’re expected to spend lots of time in the gym. There are some very basic things though that you probably don’t know can help improve building your muscles. For instance, you can work on your diet. After all, eating for your muscles is just about as important as lifting for them.

While the people who want to get thinner avoid calories, you know you should take a lot of them. They’re not the key though! While it’s acceptable to eat fast food once in a while, devouring boxes of pizza and pigging out on ice cream are definitely not advisable. True, rebuilding muscle tissue that has broken down requires energy (thus, calories), but the multitudes have been over-informed. High-calorie intakes is not encouraged; they might turn into fat. You might end up big, sure, but not muscly – instead, simply fat. Generally, 300-500 calories more than what your body burns is what’s best.

You must, on the other hand, concentrate on protein. It is essential to have lots of protein in your body since they are what’s in charge of muscle growth. 2 grams of protein per pound is ideal for a day. If you eat every three hours, it ensures that you are absorbing the protein you need to support the growth of your muscles.

You should eat after a workout. Nothing beats a meal that’s rich in both carbs and protein. After training, the body is really bad at taking in the carbohydrates towards the fat-storing pathways; they’re sent out to the growth-promoting pathways instead. Together with protein, you will be able to achieve maximum feeding of your muscles. The carbs will be in charge of delivering the amino acids into the muscle tissue by boosting your insulin levels. The insulin, in turn, drives nutrients towards the muscle cells, thus making it possible for the muscles to grow.

When building muscles, it’s also especially advisable to drink lots of water, most especially during the hours before your workout. It helps you feel full. While training, you can drink 8 ounces of water every 20 minutes and more on hot days. The body’s performance declines when it’s dehydrated. Do not wait until you’re thirsty either. For some people, they prefer low-calorie sports drinks, which is okay too since they are especially made for hydrating. Fluids in cooler temperatures make people drink more of them too.

Basic Skin Care for Different Skin Types

Skin Care
Skin care is pretty essential; we all know that. Specialized skin care, however, gives us more than just crossing off the required – it’s specialized; therefore, we get the best we could. In this article, we will be sharing with you tips on how to deal with different skin types.

Let’s start off with dry skin. Skin that’s always dehydrated, not oily and has a bunch of breakouts is considered dry skin. For some, dry skin means not much elasticity and oversensitivity to sun, wind and the cold. The best way to overcome this is to wash your skin with creamy cleanser and warm water daily. For treatment purposes, it’s good to wash the face with warm water and then to pat it after. Toner also helps getting rid of the flaky feel. Alcohol-based toners, however, make the skin even dryer. Cream-based products, such as lotion, are good for hydrating the skin and are, therefore, highly-recommended.

For those whose skin always shine, the skin is considered oily. Oily skin is more susceptible to whiteheads, blackheads and pimples. Oily skin attracts much dirt so washing the face often is important. It is advisable to wash the face with warm water and non-foaming cleanser. Toner, yet again, is better alcohol-free. It’s also a good idea to have oil blotting sheets with you throughout the day. Oily skin still needs to be moisturized because otherwise, the skin would produce more oil for itself.

Normal skin may sound like the combination of both skin types but it is technically not. Skin is normal if it’s only oily on the T-zone (inclusive of the nose) and dry on the cheeks. Normal skin also adapts to the weather, meaning oilier during summer and a bit dryer during winter. For normal skin, the face must simply be washed with cleanser for normal skin types. Alcohol-free toner and moisturizer must be frequently applied to the skin.

Combination skin, on the other hand, is exactly as what the name suggests. It is the combination of the first two types. In this case, there’s acne and lots of oil in a certain area, while most of the other parts of the face is dry. Papular and pustular acne are common manifestations of combination skin – where pimples concentrate on the mouth area. For treatments, the area where pimples concentrate should simply be tended in the same way suggested for the previous skin types. If acne is rather severe though, it is best to consult a dermatologist.

Acai Berry: Potential Superfood

Acai Berry
Most people have been talking about the acai berry. They’re actually berries considered to be a superfood, exhibiting weight loss and anti-aging properties. The berries can apparently also be used for cosmetic purposes. Let’s take a look at its scientific background.

The acai berry is about an inch long. Its color is a mixture of red and purple. It comes from the tree Euterpe oleracea or the acai palm tree, a native tree found in Central and South America. According to research, the berry does have antioxidant potentials. As a result, it may, as a matter of fact, pose a good fight against oxidative problems such as cancer and heart disease.

Regarding its health value, the berry has lots of anthocyanins and flavonoids. Anthocyanins are responsible for the blue and red hues in flowers, vegetables and plants. Food that are rich in this substance range from red grapes to blueberries and to ultimately, the acai berry. Anthocyanins are proven to be such powerful antioxidants that help the body exhibit defense mechanisms against stressors. Antioxidants protect cells as well, by being guards against harm free radicals. Diets that are rich in antioxidants pave way to slower aging and less likelihood to get most diseases.

We know some things for sure about the acai berries. For instance, its pulp, because of its antioxidant properties, are used in addressing lots of health conditions. These health conditions are the same conditions addressed to by fruits similar to the acai – blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, cranberries and raspberries.

As for weight loss, its properties regarding this are still currently being studied. A few studies, though, suggest that it does promote weight loss – as do diets rich in antioxidants. Berries and other antioxidants are, without argue, promoters of detoxified and healthy lives. As for being especially effective in getting off unnecessary weight though, the acai berry has still not been proven super.

The berries are also used in cosmetics because it contains acai oil – the powerhouse of antioxidants and is a very effective ingredient in creams, therapies, shampoos, anti-aging ointments and several other products.

As for side effects, the acai berry has been considered not advisable to those who have pollen allergies. Over-eating the berries, of course, is also not recommended.

Overall, the acai berry has so much potential, though as cautious health junkies, we still should wait for further studies before officially indulging in them! It doesn’t hurt to try the berries though; after all, we’re sure they’re antioxidizing, and we’re sure they’re tasty!

Pet Insurance: Is It Really Worth It?

 Pet Insurance
Are pet insurances ever worth it, most people probably wonder. We can never get a better perspective than from the standpoint of veterinarians, themselves. Let’s take a look at what they have to say.

Pet insurance, veterinarians claim, doesn’t really get the attention that it should be getting. For instance, most people would rather save money in the bank than actually invest on actual pet insurance premiums. Veterinarians don’t think this is a great idea.

In general, people get insurance so they will be able to pay for expenses that are unexpected and most of the time, also large. Pet health savings accounts are okay, but you apparently shouldn’t choose them in lieu of pet insurance. For example, if your pet suddenly gets sick with something pretty serious, you’d probably have to shell out several thousand dollars. If you only had a savings plan, you’d most probably be short. An insurance, however, is a lot handier. Although most pet owners would say this is an unrealistic example, veterinarians say this has happened many times already.

Another one major complaint when it comes to pet insurance is its exclusions, such as chronic problems, genetics, etc that makes the whole thing apparently not worth it. However, there are a lot of new insurance companies nowadays that have vast coverage. Policies can even be customized.

Now if you’ve already had an experience where you’d had to shell out a lot of money for an unplanned circumstance your pet had to go through, it is more likely for you to buy an insurance. However, if you haven’t experienced such and if your pets have rather been on the healthy side, you’d think the whole idea is a waste of money. The truth, though, is that you can never really predict the future. For pet owners who do not want to spend a lot for their pet when sick, insurance may not be the best for you. Some probably just euthanize the pet. Pet owners who really love their pets though (most of them, in this case) have been found out, through surveys, to be willing to spend “any amount” to save their pets.

Overall, pet insurance really do have lots of advantages, but it still makes you pay for what you probably think you can live without. It serves its purpose, though. It insures. From them on, it really depends on the pet owner.
